*Who would’ve thought that the Public Enemy hype man with the big kitchen clocks around his neck would one day be lauded at the world’s most prestigious Ivy League school?

As hip hop celebrates its 50th anniversary year, Flavor Flav, now 64, visited Harvard University last week for several events, including the donation of one of his clocks to the school’s Hip Hop Archive Research Institute, TMZ reported.

Professors Henry Louis Gates and Tommie Shelby were on hand to receive the timepiece.

The “911 is a Joke” rapper also spoke to students Tuesday (April 4) about the roots of hip hop, and led a fitting table reading of Emily Dickinson’s poem “A Clock Stopped.”

Also on hand was current visiting MIT scholar Lupe Fiasco, who last month led an event for Harvard Law School affiliates to learn about the Royal Game of Ur, rapper Dee-1, DJ Stretch Armstrong, and Muhammad Ali’s daughter Khaliah Ali, a longtime friend of Flav’s.

According to TMZ, Flav’s Harvard visit also included a writer’s workshop, a PBS interview, and joining student groups to feed the unhoused inside the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter.
