Cast of ‘Under The Influence’ Talk Black Fatal Attraction in New TV One Thriller | EUR Video Exclusive

*TV One’s “Under The Influence” is the Black fatal attraction movie of the year!

Yeah – we know the year just kicked off but director by Courtney Miller (“Games People Play”, “Saints & Sinners”, and “Twisted House Sitter”) has created a new mold when it comes to Black psychological thrillers — with a stalker twist!

In this film, a woman’s life is thrown into a dangerous tailspin after ending an affair with the dangerous lover she met at Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Denyce Brooks  (“Chicago PD”, “Hot Shot: Anthrax” — NatGeo/Disney+, “A Luv’s Tale” — BET+) stars align with BJ Brit (“Being Mary Jane”, “Agents of the SHIELD”) and Jared Wofford (“The Winchesters” — CW, “Rap Sh!t”, “Saints and Sinners”) rounds out the cast.

Per the official synopsis: UNDER THE INFLUENCE stems from the colloquial term “13th step”. This term applies when a 12-step old-timer hits on a newcomer with less than a year of sobriety. It can be for a variety of reasons: emotional, financial, or physical. But either way, it’s someone in a position of power trying to take advantage of someone weaker. 

Denyce Lawton plays the lead role Danae, a married woman struggling with sobriety who gets involved in a steamy hot affair with a man who will stop at nothing to end her marriage and have her all to himself.

Jared Wofford plays Robert, Danae’s hardworking but overbearing husband. Their complicated marriage is upended when his wife cheats on him with a man who is no stranger to the couple.

B.J. Britt portrays Seth, Danae’s lover whom she meets at Alcoholics Anonymous. Their relationship takes a turn for the worse when Seth becomes obsessed with Danae and threatens to expose their affair to her loyal husband.

EUR’s Ny MaGee caught up with Lawton, Britt, and Wofford to unpack this wild journey and what they hope the film leaves viewers talking about when it comes to matters of love, sex, relationships and cheating.
