*Black gay podcaster Rob Smith was heckled with racial and homophobic slurs on Sunday at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest event in Phoenix, Arizona.
Smith, a Republican, posted a video of his interaction with a group of white supremacists, but the footage does not include the aggressors hurling the n-word, LGBTQ Nation reports.
“Last night in Phoenix, I was confronted and surrounded by some White Supremacists that don’t like gays or blacks in the Republican Party,” Smith wrote in a December 18 post on X (see below). “They shouted ‘n****r’ and ‘f****t’ at me to make their point. However, I served in Iraq. I never back down. Ever.”
The video shows a group of white males surrounding Smith like a pack of wild animals and calling him a “faggot” and chanting, “Gay sex.”
On X/Twitter, some conservatives apologized to Smith. Chaya Raichik, founder of the popular Libs of TikTok platform, called the video “sick.”

Some X users are calling for Smith to leave the Republican party.
As Newsweek reports, Republicans for National Renewal, a pro-Trump conservative advocacy group, hosted the event and issued an apology after Smith’s video went viral.
“The individuals involved were members of the public without any association with us and we were actively involved in defusing the situation and ensuring attendee safety,” the group said in a statement. “These sorts of actions are not welcome at our events and the individuals involved will be excluded from future events.”
Watch Smith’s encounter with the white racists via the X/Twitter clip above. He also discusses the homophobic harassment in the video below.
In 2020, Donald Trump partnered with @RNC and @LogCabinGOP to lobby gays for our votes.
His ACTIONS prove he has my back.
