*Activist Dr. Umar Johnson believes Black Americans are not ready to receive reparations.

During a November 2022 interview, Johnson explained why Blacks do not yet deserve reparations, saying “If someone is mentally ill and is in a mental hospital, and we give them a million dollars, does it reverse the illness? Does it do anything to treat the problems?”

Johnson continued, “So let’s take that it to if a community has no institutions, no way to track the money in their community and they own none of these institutions and you drop trillions of dollars into the community where none of the institutions that are going to take their money is owned by people who look like them.”

He added, “If we can not responsibly spend the money we already have, what makes you think giving you more is going to change your situation?”

Elsewhere in the interview, Johnson falsely claims that reparations grew out of the Pan-Africanist movement. Watch his full commentary via the Twitter clip above.

Meanwhile, EUR reported previously that cities across the country are exploring how to implement versions of reparations. Meanwhile, many Americans are opposed to the idea.

“Reparations is about repair and when you repair the damage that has been done, you do so much to move a society forward. This commission can be a healing process. Telling the truth can heal America,” Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee said.
