Boseman, as well know, played King T’Challa in “Black Panther.” After learning of the actor’s death on Friday at age 43, Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger called him a “hero to millions.”

“He brought enormous strength, dignity and depth to his groundbreaking role of Black Panther; shattering myths and stereotypes, becoming a long-awaited hero to millions around the world, and inspiring us all to dream bigger and demand more than the status quo. We mourn all that he was, as well as everything he was destined to become,” Iger said in a statement.

The special — which features remembrances from celebrities, political figures and fans — will “celebrate Boseman’s storied life, legacy and career, and the cultural imprint he made on- and off-screen,” ABC said.

The tribute comes after the 43-year-old died Friday after privately battling cancer since 2016.
