Wendy Williams Is Not Down With Idris Elba Suggesting Yearly Self-Quarantine [VIDEO]

*Wendy Williams has called on Idris Elba to chill on suggesting a short, annual quarantine (beginning in 2021) to honor those impacted by the deadly coronavirus.

The daytime talk show host said she doesn’t need a yearly reminder of the pandemic because, like most Americans, she will never forget this current global health crisis. 

The 47-year-old British actor, along with his wife, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, are currently on the road to recovery after allegedly testing positive for coronavirus in March. Now he wants the world to “take a week of quarantine every year just to remember this time. Remember each other,” he said in an interview with the Associated Press on April 20. 

“I think it’s… other species use it. It’s called hibernation. But it does remind you that the world doesn’t tick on your time,” Idris added.

Williams shared a clip of the interview Wednesday morning on her @ Home show (see Twitter video above), asking her virtual audience “Is he serious? I don’t need to be reminded of this. This is something you’ll never forget.”

She added, “Will you ever forget it? Will you have to quarantine next year this time? I don’t. Idris, sit down.”

Last month, Elba revealed on Twitter he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

“This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus,” he wrote.

“Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic,” Elba added. 

His 30-year-old wife Sabrina also had this to say to Oprah about contracting the virus: “I’m not surprised. As soon as I heard that Idris was potentially exposed I was on my way anyway and I wanted to be with him. I think that’s an instinct as a wife you just want to go and take care. We didn’t change the way we interacted.”
