*Colin Kaepernick has announced plans to drop a memoir later this year that will be released through his newly formed company, Kaepernick Publishing.

Audible, the audiobook company owned by Amazon, will release an audio version of the memoir, as well as other Kaepernick Publishing projects.

“I want to tell the story of my evolution, and the events that led me to protest systemic oppression, in hopes that it will inspire others to rise in action,” the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback said in a statement.

The memoir is described as revealing “the life experiences that led him to risk his career as a star NFL Super Bowl quarterback in one silent act of protest.”

No title or release date has been announced.

Kaepernick Publishing was established in March 2019, about a month after the athlete settled his collusion grievance against the NFL, accusing the league of blacklisting him for protesting police brutality when he was an active player.

“I’ve had a lot of questions surrounding what got me to the point of protesting,” he told USA Today. “Why did I do it? Why did I do it at that moment? Why wasn’t it earlier in my career? A lot of questions surrounding what led me to that point. Which led me to wanting to share that story and give insight. So I think there’s a lot of interest around it, but time will tell when the book comes out.”

Kaepernick remains interested in returning to football, but he reportedly won’t be playing in the XFL relaunch due to his high salary demands, according to commissioner Oliver Luck.

“My desire to play football is still there,” Kaepernick said. “I still train five days a week. I’m ready to go, I’m ready for a phone call, tryout, workout at any point in time. I’m still waiting on the owners and their partners to stop running from this situation. So I hope I get a call this offseason. I’ll be looking forward to it.”
