*A$AP Rocky — real name Rakim Mayers — has been charged with assault causing bodily harm in a June 30 brawl that went down in central Stockholm, Swedish prosecutors said in a statement Thursday.

The case against the artist will proceed “despite claims of self-defense and provocation,” public prosecutor for Stockholm, Daniel Suneson, said in an email, per New York Times

Rocky has been in custody since July 3, following a confrontation with two Afghan migrants in the Swedish capital. The rapper’s lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, maintains his client is innocent, as he was defending himself after being assaulted.

Suneson claims A$AP  and two members of his crew assaulted one of the males by kicking and beating him with a glass bottle, according to court documents obtained by CNN. All three have been charged for their involvement in the incident and will remain in custody until the trial.

“It is worth noting that I have had access to a greater amount of material than that which has previously been available on the internet. In addition to video material, the injured party’s statements have been supported by witness statements,” Suneson said.

The prosecutor claims to have receipts in the forms of cell phone videos, surveillance video from the Grand Hotel and a burger restaurant, text messages from A$AP’s body guard about the assault and how they’ve recorded it, texts from the assistant’s phone and DNA analysis from a bottle used in the assault, per MSN.com

Footage posted by A$AP Rocky of show him and his crew repeatedly ask the two males to stop following them. He even noted in the caption that a member of his security was hit “in the face with headphones” by one of the men.

In another video, Rocky appears to grab one of the men and throw him to the ground — kicking and punching him along with members of his entourage.

As we previously reported, Swedish prosecutors dropped the investigation of one of the two males involved in the fight, saying the guy was acting in self-defense when he hurled his headphones at Rocky’s bodyguard, cutting his head.

A$AP is reportedly being held in solitary confinement without any visitation or call privileges, and facing up to six years in prison if convicted. TMZ reported that he’s jailed inside an alleged “disease-ridden” facility. Rocky could be held in prison until he is due to stand trial in mid-August. Formal charges are expected Thursday.
