*Pepsi rolled out a new permanent flavor on Jan. 20, Pepsi Wild Cherry & Cream.
According to the news release, this flavor combines sweet cherry and creamy vanilla, available in original and zero-sugar varieties. The new carbonated soft drink marks Pepsi’s first permanent flavor addition in four years, following the discontinuation of Pepsi Mango.
“Pepsi Mango is phasing out for now,” a Pepsi representative told Nexstar. “Pepsi prioritizes its portfolio based on changing tastes and preferences, and we’re excited to introduce our latest innovation, Pepsi and Pepsi Zero Sugar Wild Cherry & Cream this month.”
The new flavor will initially be offered in 12-ounce cans, with 20-ounce bottles available for a limited time. Pepsi noted that Pepsi Wild Cherry & Cream is distinct from the existing Pepsi Wild Cherry, which has been a part of the brand since 1988.
“Pepsi Wild Cherry has always been a flavor favorite in the cola world, especially among millennial and Gen Z cola fans — we’ve seen 8% growth year over year on the product — so we knew we had an opportunity to deliver something special this year that consumers will love,” said Jenny Danzi, the head of marketing at Pepsi.
Pepsi confirmed that Pepsi Wild Cherry is not being discontinued.
