OWN to Premiere Luther Vandross Documentary ‘Never Too Much’ on Feb. 7

*OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will premiere the documentary “Luther: Never Too Much” on February 7, which chronicles the life and legacy of legendary singer Luther Vandross.

The film celebrates the singer and features a special introduction from Oprah as she reflects on the impact of Vandross and his unique ability to connect through his lyrics and music. The synopsis states: “The critically acclaimed film celebrates the vocal virtuoso and chronicles the obstacles and triumphs he had along the way to become one of the most decorated and influential artists of all time.”

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Dawn Porter and produced by Raindog Films, Foxxhole Productions, Sony Music Entertainment, and CNN Films, the doc “chronicles Vandross from his formative years in Harlem, appearing in the Apollo Theater house band and the first episodes of Sesame Street, through his ascendance to become the indisputable master of the love song,” per Deadline. The story is told through archival clips of Vandross’ voice, alongside interviews with Mariah Carey, Dionne Warwick, Valerie Simpson, and Roberta Flack. 

“Celebrating the extraordinary talent and life of Luther Vandross, this documentary highlights an innovative trailblazer whose story exemplifies the powerful, inspiring narratives that OWN is dedicated to bringing to the forefront,” said Tina Perry, President of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

“Luther: Never Too Much” will air on OWN on Friday, February 7, at 9 PM ET/PT.
