Well now, look-a-here, will ya. LiAngelo Ball, the middle sibling of the famous Ball B-ball family, has successfully transitioned from basketball aspirations to a burgeoning music career with a significant deal that reflects his new direction in life.

According to representatives from his label, Born2Ball Music Group, Ball has signed an impressive deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group. Reports indicate the contract is worth up to $13 million, with $8 million guaranteed, providing Ball with full ownership of his music and a platform to manage his record label.

The deal comes on the heels of LiAngelo’s debut single “Tweaker,” which was released on January 3, and has made waves in the music industry. Described as having a mix of early 2000s rap and modern hip-hop vibes, the song has quickly garnered massive attention, amassing nearly 8 million views on WorldstarHipHop’s YouTube channel as of January 13. Notably, the track has climbed the charts, entering the top 10 streaming chart on Spotify shortly after its release, even surpassing big names like Tyler, the Creator, and Kendrick Lamar, ESPN is reporting.

While LiAngelo went undrafted in 2018 and had fleeting stints with NBA teams like the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets, he has pivoted his focus from basketball to music, showcasing his versatility and ambition. Averaging 4.4 points in 31 NBA G League games, it became clear that his future might lie off the basketball court. This shift in career path has yielded fruitful results, as his track “Tweaker” has become a viral sensation, resonating with listeners across various demographics.

The excitement surrounding his music career isn’t limited to just streaming numbers. His brother, Lonzo Ball, has been vocal about LiAngelo’s potential, declaring 2025 as “the year of G[elo].” The unity and support within the Ball family are evident, demonstrating a strong familial bond that extends beyond sports.

LiAngelo’s ascendance in the music scene has also attracted the attention of other artists and athletes. Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard, known for his own successful rap career, praised LiAngelo’s work, highlighting the nostalgic vibe of “Tweaker” by comparing it to music from the early 2000s. “I rock with it, man,” Lillard remarked during a post-game interview, expressing admiration for Ball’s artistic effort and the track’s widespread appeal.

LiAngelo’s rise has not only highlighted his talents as a musician but has also emphasized the growing trend of athletes crossing over into the music industry. The influence of sports culture on hip-hop has created a unique synergy where athletes like Lillard and now Ball find success beyond their primary professions. This crossover has allowed Ball to showcase his artistry while gaining respect from peers within the music community.

Perhaps one of the most exciting developments for Ball is his upcoming performance at the Rolling Loud festival in Los Angeles this March. Securing a spot at such a high-profile event underlines his rapid ascent and the validation of his music career. The festival, known for featuring some of the biggest names in hip-hop, will provide LiAngelo the opportunity to perform in front of a large audience, further solidifying his place in the music industry.

As LiAngelo Ball ventures into this new chapter of his life, the combination of his talent, the support from his family, and the ambitious record deal have positioned him for a promising music career. With plans for a second song in the pipeline, fans and critics alike are eager to see how he will build on the success of “Tweaker.”
