*Wiz Khalifa was charged with illegal drug possession in Romania after smoking marijuana onstage during his headlining set at the “Beach, Please!” festival held in Costinesti.
PEOPLE reports that the rapper apologized on social media on Sunday (July 14).
“Last nights show was amazing,” Khalifa wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”
The French news agency French news agency Agence France Presse (AFP) reported that Wiz was busted with cannabis in his possession of rapper. Under Romanian law, cannabis is classified as a “risk drug,” and if convicted, Khalifa could face up to 10 years in prison.
The Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors organization DIICOT said: “During a performance at a music festival held in the resort of Costinesti, the accused was found to have possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and to have consumed (onstage) another quantity in the form of a handmade cigarette,” they said in its statement.
Wiz Khalifa was questioned by local authorities and was released soon after benign charged.
Last year, fans had mixed reactions when Wiz Khalifa claimed that smoking weed doesn’t make people lazy.
“Weed doesn’t make you lazy your just lazy and using weed as an excuse,” he tweeted.
As Moguldom reported, many fans agreed with the hip-hop star, who has a line of cannabis. Twitter user @axelsylvian noted, “Weed doesn’t make you lazy, but it does make you feel like it’s okay to be lazy… Sober people stress out when their life is going nowhere, weed addicts won’t, they’ll just get high and feel ok.”
“Nope. Weed 100% makes you lazy lol it’s why they call it being ‘stoned’ I’ve never seen a stone mowing the grass sir,” Twitter user @THExREALxWILL wrote.
