*R. Kelly’s invasion of privacy lawsuit against a prison officer entered a new chapter, with the officer disputing the embattled singer’s claims against him. Citing court documents obtained by In Touch, The Blast detailed the backlash from the officer, who reportedly retired when the case broke.

In his response, the unnamed lawman, who has denied all allegations of wrongdoing, argued that Kelly was “not in a place where” he should expect privacy. The officer further stated that the “Step in the Name of Love” entertainer was not harmed, noting their conduct towards Kelly was and noted neither outrageous nor intentional.

Lawyers for the officer requested the court to dismiss Kelly’s allegations, offering no compensation to him for his complaint.

The guard’s response marks the latest development in Kelly’s legal saga surrounding his federal lawsuit against the government and prison officials, for allegedly leaking his private information to popular YouTuber Tasha K. Chronicling events leading to the lawsuit, The Blast notes the case goes back to Kelly’s stint at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago.

The vocalist’s duration there resulted following his infamous July 2019 arrest before moving to a North Carolina-based facility in 2023.

In his lawsuit, Kelly mentioned his invasion of privacy, claiming prison employees used the internal prison system to assess his emails, visitors, and phone logs. The “Fiesta” crooner voiced his belief the information obtained during his stay at the prison was sold to YouTube blogger Tasha K, who went public with it on her platform. He believed the information was sold to Tasha K, who published it on her platform.

The invasion of privacy suit is just one part of a bigger legal scenario Kelly is battling over with the government.

Earlier this month, headlines surfaced about the government’s refusal to fight Kelly on the lawsuit, which was addressed in a statement through its attorney that highlighted the hitmaker’s negligence and invasion of privacy claims.

“The United States is not subject to institutional liability stemming from allegedly widespread negligent practices or policies.,” the statement read.

The government’s response to Kelly countered claims they failed in their responsibility to care for Kelly, despite an admission of their investigations discovering a prison official did provide Tasha K with sensitive information. Nevertheless, the government requested Kelly’s case be dismissed, triggering the “Ignition” singer to pepper his lawsuit with accusations of a failure to control its Federal Bureau of Prison (BOP) officers and allowing them to abuse their power unchecked.

Kelly doubled down in his lawsuit, touching on negligence from the government, who he says allegedly knew about the BOP officers’ crimes but did nothing to stop them.

“The Defendant Unites States of America knew that [one of the employees] and [the other prison workers] routinely accessed [Kelly’s] private information from its systems and divulged private information to third parties for monetary gain, clout, or simple harassment,” Kelly’s statement read in part.

Kelly, who is currently behind bars, further claimed severe emotional distress coupled with his reputation being significantly harmed over the alleged invasion of privacy by prison officials and Tasha K.

Kelly is currently behind bars in North Carolina as his privacy invasion lawsuit continues.
