*The end may have come and gone for Starz’s “Power Book II: Ghost,” but that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of characters involved in this segment of the “Power franchise.
Examining what could come from the show’s series finale, Deadline noted that Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) is alive and kicking. With that comes a chance to continue the character’s story, which appeared in a Marvel-like tease at the end of the finale after the credits.
Factor in the upcoming series finale of “Power Book IV: Force,” featuring longstanding “Power” universe fixture Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), and possibilities are planted for Tariq and his Uncle Tommy to join forces and run things as a team. After all, it may have very well been Tommy on the phone with Tariq.
Hmmm….
Despite tons of ill will between Tariq and Tommy, things seem to be good between them. It looked like the duo is on track with an assist from Tariq’s mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) after the final two episodes of “Power Book II: Ghost‘s third season.
Hmmm…
Still, speculation says if a new show is in the works after “Book II,” it may be one centered on Tariq and Tommy and their mission to take over the criminal underworld.
Hmmm….
As it stands now,” Ghost” is history as of Oct. 4, and “Force” is on its way to be done soon. So that leaves “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” to continue the past timeline, along with the newly announced addition to the “Power” world, “Origins.”
Although it will feature younger which will follow younger versions of Tommy and Ghost (Omari Hardwick), it’s safe to say the duo will eventually connect with younger versions of Kanan (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in “Power,” Mekai Curtis in “Raising Kanan”). Another intersection of shows to come, possibly?
Hmmm……
To say goodbye to “Book II: Ghost” is to say farewell to a slew of talented entertainers who have given all of us something to talk about. Among those featured in the series during its four-season run were Mary J. Blige, Clifford “Method Man” Smith Jr., Larenz Tate and Michael Ealy, among others.
With that, Deadline speculated that “Nobody would be surprised if any new franchise shows feature more up-and-coming talent with any established actors perhaps playing more recurring or guest-level roles.”
The end of “Power Book II” comes amid the aftermath of an announcement made in March from Starz CEO Jeff Hirsch, who made his intentions known to develop more new shows to keep content costs in line instead of keeping shows around longer as they become more expensive.
No matter what, it will be interesting to see how things ultimately pan out onscreen and off with the popular “Power” universe and its twists and turns with each expansion.
Stay tuned…
