*“We want to get the word out. We’re on a mission to make Him relevant to all,” said renaissance woman Michelle McKinney Hammond, who just released her 43rd book “When Shift Happens,” about her music ministry Michelle McKinney Hammond and Relevance. “We want to transform into His. We are the body of Christ.”
The latest single from Michelle’s Praise & Worship group Relevance was “Your Presence.” Their latest album is “With Love.” Michelle McKinney Hammond and Relevance have released four albums “It’s Amazing,” “Let’s Go In,” “Come Let Us Worship and “With Love.” Those projects have birthed several hit singles such as “In You” and “Shelter” featuring Charles Lester.
“It’s a team,” she said when I asked if Relevance was her choir. “A fresh new sound. Three background singers and a band. It’s what we do in Ghana, West Africa – for 10 years. We started in April 2014. We decided it would be best to do events, bars, and receptions – everything outside the church.”
Michelle Hammond is an Emmy-winning TV host, winning the award for co-hosting for 10 years on “Aspiring Women” (Creflo Dollar Ministries), executive produced and co-hosted by Creflo Dollar. She was co-host of “3D Women” on TCT Network for eight seasons. She has appeared on Bill Mahers “Politically Incorrect.” As an actress and producer, Michelle’s credits include African movies Bloodline, Single and Married, If Tomorrow Never Comes, and Love Regardless. Hammond has also written a screenplay titled “First Love.” If that is not enough for this exceptional lady, she has a fashion line called MMH (Me, Myself and Him) Collection.
“We worked out of Chicago. I left because I got tired,” she said when I asked why she wasn’t on the “Aspiring Women” show after 10 years. “It was fun at first…then I wanted to do something different…another level.”
Currently, she appears as a co-host on the streaming network Light TV’s talk show “Truth But Fair” with three others. She has appeared as a guest or co-host on many networks, such as Lifetime when she appeared on “Women of the Bible.” She is also president of the Michelle McKinney Hammond Ministries.
Michelle, who is based in Ghana, has over 40 bestselling books. Her newest book “When Shift Happens” is a self-help book.
“We’re going through a lot of changes…I’ve gone through a change in my life,” said Michelle about her newest book. “I share how to navigate through these times. There is always a next…”
“I have 43,” Hammond corrected me when I asked about the number of books she has published, and then when I asked how she was inspired to write 43 books she said simply, “God downloaded them.”
As we ended our interview Michelle, who holds an honorary doctorate in Theology, added that, “Everybody has a calling. Music is so powerful. Words from heaven…into music.” www.MichelleHammond.com
