*The Miami Beach PD‘s new Rolls-Royce patrol vehicle has sparked criticism online, with many calling it a waste of taxpayer money.

According to the Miami New Times, the MBPD collaborated with car dealership Braman Motors on the luxury patrol vehicle. The department recently unveiled its new Rolls-Royce, apparently aimed at beefing up recruitment efforts. It will serve as a promotional vehicle for the department’s recruitment team.

“This vehicle represents our commitment to innovation and our dedication to recruiting the best and brightest individuals to serve our community,” Chief Wayne Jones said in a press release.

Braman owns the vehicle, and the dealership “sponsored all costs associated with this project following the [City of Miami Beach] policy,” public information officer Christopher Bess shared with the New Times.

The department captioned the post, “Crafted with Precision: Miami Beach police officers and professional staff exemplify the highest standards of dedication and quality policing in our unparalleled commitment to the residents and visitors we serve. In the comments, one person wrote, “N***as be going to jail in style.”

Another IG user added, “Too bad Braman can’t donate that kind of money to help the hungry and homeless. Which actually would end up helping MBPD and MB in general.”

A third commented, “Streets need safety, not showpieces.”
