*An old sex tape featuring Kevin Hart is generating new headlines via a lawsuit brought on by a former ally. Jonathan “J.T.” Jackson is suing the “Ride Along” star for breach of contract, fraud, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Jackson is seeking at least $12 million in damages.
At the center of Jackson’s suit is the wording used during a video post shared online to address his sex tape scandal. The lawsuit noted that despite how it may have seemed, Hart’s speaking on the controversy was not spontaneous. Instead, the suit said Hart mentioning the situation was planned to “publicly exonerate” Jackson from the entire ordeal.
However, Hart allegedly deviated from the “specific verbiage” he agreed to use, leaving Jackson’s career and reputation soured, theJasmineBrand, mentioned.
News of Jackson’s lawsuit comes years after video footage capturing the married entertainer engaging in sexual activities with model Montia Sabbag hit the internet.
At the time, Hart’s wife, Eniko Parrish, was pregnant when the episode occurred.
Reportedly, the FBI factored into the situation after word spread about a $5 million extortion attempt from those behind the leak. Believing Jackson was running the situation, he was charged with attempted extortion, tried concealing and selling stolen property, unauthorized use of personal ID, and identity theft.
The situation, at the time, ultimately resulted in all charges against Jackson being dropped.
Jackson’s lawsuit references a time in 2021 when the men “meticulously negotiated” a settlement agreement that contractually obligated Hart to specifically note the charges against Jackson were dismissed, with him being cleared of any involvement.
Although he allegedly agreed to say how the scandal cost him “a valuable friendship” with Jackson. Hart’s approach was more relaxed than expected as he seemingly left out keywords/phrases he allegedly agreed to say.
The wording of Hart’s statement, meticulously negotiated and detailed in the contract, was crucial to repairing and remediating the severe damage inflicted upon the plaintiff’s reputation by the baseless extortion allegations that Hart aggressively promoted and publicized.”
In addition, Jackson’s suit touched on Hart’s wording, saying it “dilutes this intent by framing the exoneration more as a conclusion to a chapter in Hart’s own life rather than a clear and unequivocal exoneration of plaintiff.”
“But it’s been three years since Kevin promised to help clear my name, to no avail,” he said. “So here we are. Through this lawsuit, I aim to restore my reputation, seek accountability, and ensure that such injustices do not happen to others.”
