*According to new court documents, Tupac murder suspect Duane “Keefe D” Davis allegedly worked as a police informant for years after being caught trafficking drugs.
During this time, he claimed that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs offered him $1 million to arrange Tupac’s murder, with the payment supposedly made to Eric “Zip” Martin. The prosecution asserts that Keefe D traveled to New York City to discuss the plot to kill Tupac and met with Zip while undercover, Hot New Hip Hop reports.
“Mr. Martin [Zip] greeted Defendant excitedly and they had a social conversation,” the court papers claim. “Mr. Martin indicated he was out of the business but directed him to conduct his drug activities with the nephew. Thereafter, Defendant and Mr. Martin socialized in Mr. Martin’s restaurant for several hours.”
We reported previously, citing The Sun, that Davis claims Diddy asked him to “take out” Pac and Knight, an allegation that the Bad Boy Records founder has constantly dismissed.
In his book “Compton Street Legend,” Davis discussed the murder plot in an interview with the LAPD. In the recording, Davis told detectives that Combs was “happy as hell” after Pac was gunned down in 1996. He also alleged that Diddy paid the fee for the hit to Zip, a known gangster at the time, who decided to keep the money for himself.
According to former LAPD detective Greg Kading, Keefe D told law enforcement that Puff Daddy held a meeting in a hotel room and told a room full of “crips” gang members that he wanted the “heads” of Pac and Suge, Hot New Hip Hop reports.
Keefe was arrested and charged with Tupac’s murder in 2023 after confessing to providing the murder weapon in his book.
The former gang leader admitted he was an accomplice to the 1996 murder of Tupac in Las Vegas. He told the LAPD in 2009 that his late nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, was the triggerman.
Keffe D remains jailed after a Las Vegas judge denied bond last month due to concerns about the origin of his bail funds.
Earlier this year, a Las Vegas judge set bail at $750,000 following Davis’ arrest in September in connection with the 1996 murder of the rapper. We reported previously via CNN that Davis has been housed at Clark County Detention Center since his arrest after his wife’s Henderson home was searched in July 2023 as part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting.
Shakur was fatally shot while leaving a boxing match on the Las Vegas Strip. His untimely death at age 25 has been the subject of a decades-long investigation.
