*Emmy Award-winning journalist and KCAL News anchor Chauncy Glover has passed away at the age of 39.
ABC 7 reports that he joined KCAL News in October 2023 after an eight-year career in Houston, where he became the first Black male main anchor at KTRK.
“We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncy’s beloved family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncy,” the Glover family wrote in a statement. “He was more than a son and brother—he was a beacon of light in our lives and a true hero to his community.”
A native of Athens, Alabama, Glover founded The Chauncy Glover Project to mentor and empower teenage boys. Glover hosted bi-monthly sessions for middle and high school boys, offering guidance and enrichment activities. After moving to Houston, he continued the program, which has helped over 350 boys of color attend college and mentored more than 1,000 young men.
