*Former Kansas City, Kansas police detective Roger Golubski was found dead at his Edwardsville home on December 2 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been facing federal charges for allegedly extorting and sexually assaulting Black women and teens, as well as wrongfully imprisoning innocent men. Golubski reportedly took his life on the morning he was scheduled to testify in his trial.
According to KCUR, after he failed to appear in court Monday, the judge overseeing the trial issued an arrest warrant and delayed the proceedings. Authorities tracked Golubski’s electronic monitoring device to his home, where they discovered he had died from a gunshot wound, KMBC reports.
“When officers arrived on scene, they located a deceased male on the back porch, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound,” the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said in a statement, adding that there were “no indications of foul play.”
It would appear that Golubski committed suicide to evade accountability for raping multiple Black women in KCK. The judge dismissed the case following news of his death.
“It was either he died, or I died.”

“This matter involved extremely serious charges, and it is always difficult when a case is unable to be fully and fairly heard in a public trial and weighed and determined by a jury,” Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke said.
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that JAY-Z’s Team ROC is launching “Corruption Uncovered,” a true crime podcast investigating misconduct and systemic issues within Kansas City’s criminal justice system, including allegations of police corruption.

Team Roc, alongside the Midwest Innocence Project, recently filed a lawsuit against Kansas City, Kansas, for allegedly violating public records laws. The suit claims the city failed to promptly provide law enforcement records related to decades of police abuse and misconduct, NBC News reports. It specifically addresses the Kansas City Police Department’s failure to release important documents about complaints involving current and former officers, following a records request made by Roc Nation in November 2023.
Hosted by journalist Josie Duffy Rice, “Corruption Uncovered” will also unpack Golubski’s case and trial.
“Corruption Uncovered” will debut Dec. 6 on DSPs.
