*A United Airlines flight from Houston to Boston was diverted on Sunday after passengers and crew began vomiting due to a biohazard incident involving a sick passenger.
Per Daily Mail, “A biohazard event is generally classified as exposure to a biological substance such as feces, vomit or blood, that could harm a person’s health,” the outlet writes. The speculation across social media is that the passenger was experiencing explosive diarrhea.
The Boeing 737-800 was rerouted to Washington Dulles International Airport, where it landed safely. No medical assistance was needed for the 155 passengers or six crew members.
The aircraft underwent a deep clean before continuing its journey to Boston. Biohazard incidents involve exposure to harmful biological substances.
In audio shared on X, a pilot on board said to air traffic control, “Especially with this kind of being a biohazard, I think we need to get this plane on the ground ASAP.”
The pilot continued, “The crew is vomiting and passengers all around are asking for masks, etc.
“I talked to the crew and it sounds like it’s quite bad back there.”
“The aircraft is currently undergoing a deep clean and we are working to get customers on their way to Boston soon,” United said, per Daily Mail.
