*In 2006, Eve delivered laughs on her self-titled UPN sitcom along with rhymes for music fans. But amid the professional highs, came a hidden personal low with her ectopic pregnancy.
Referencing a new interview People, TooFab reports Eve revealed her situation for the first time in her upcoming memoir “Who’s That Girl.” The only person she said knew the truth was her husband, Maximillion Cooper.
“I told my husband [about the miscarriage] when we got close, but never ever spoke about it in public, not even [while I was hosting] The Talk,” Eve told People.
In an excerpt from “Who’s That Girl,” the “What Ya Want” hitmaker detailed the ectopic pregnancy that came while filming her hit small-screen comedy “Eve.” As a result, she was forced to undergo emergency surgery.
Despite labeling the experience traumatic, Eve kept it to herself, instead choosing to focus on her career in the early 2000s, telling everyone it was “appendicitis” as she with the tribulation on her own.
“It was 2006, and I was still filming my ‘Eve’ TV series when I found out that I was pregnant. It was called a tubal pregnancy, where the embryonic sac ruptured in one fallopian tube. It’s also known as an ectopic pregnancy. I had to have emergency surgery and stop filming the show for two weeks. I don’t know why I lied to everyone on set and said that my appendix had ruptured, really,” the Ruff Ryders affiliate wrote. “Maybe because I was lying to myself. If I faced losing my baby, then I didn’t know if two weeks would be enough emotional healing time. In the end, it was barely enough healing time for me physically, before I was right back to work on set.”
To counter being “In denial” about her miscarriage, Eva admitted to doing “whatever it took” to show up and get the job done, even if it was to her “own detriment,” according to TooFab.
After years went by before she was able to grieve the loss of her first child, Eve eventually forgave herself. She ultimately learned that the tragedy wasn’t her fault and she deserved to be a mother. In 2022, motherhood came for the “Tambourine” rapper/actor with the arrival of Wilde, her son with Cooper.
Although Eve discovered she was pregnant in 2021, she initially kept it to herself while filming “Queens,” alongside costars Brandy, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez.
“I couldn’t tell anybody then because it was such a new pregnancy,” Eve voiced. “I, one hundred percent, was acting like an absolutely crazy person. It was baking in L.A., so I was asking for ice to be put down my back. When I finally told the girls that I was pregnant months into shooting, they were like, ‘That’s why you were acting crazy. Thank God that you weren’t a psycho diva.'”
Moving forward during that time, Eve gives all credit to Cooper, who she calls her “anchor.”
“I always call him my anchor, because I live in the clouds and he’s definitely two feet on the ground,” she said. “I was hormonal, so I cried a lot. I was stressed. I missed home. I missed him. But he was great. He kept me calm. He’s such a good man and good dad, which is one of the reasons why I fell in love with him.”
Eve’s “Who’s That Girl,” which arrives Sept. 17, is available to preorder now, wherever books are sold.
