*Disney has unveiled the trailer for its live-action musical remake of the classic 1937 film “Snow White.”
The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with Rachel Zegler (“West Side Story”) in the title role and Gal Gadot (“Wonder Woman”) as her Stepmother, the Evil Queen.
Per the news release: “The new trailer showcases the scale and beauty of the lavish production design, the beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy, and a first look at the power ballad Waiting on a Wish, one of the all-new original songs from EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“The Greatest Showman”).”

The film is finally set for release next year after facing setbacks like the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, a set fire, the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, as well as reshoots. The production was also hit with racist backlash after Disney confirmed Ziegler, who identifies as Latina, would take on the lead role.
“They’ve cast Snow White. Snow White is now going to be played by Rachel Zegler. OK?” Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro said, The Huffington Post reported. “Now, Rachel Zegler, you may know ― again, her name is Snow White. Now, you might consider that racist, but that’s also the name of the actual fairytale.”
The studio faced criticism for Snow White’s “politically correct” new companions (formally known as the “seven dwarfs”). Disney previously announced that the dwarfs were renamed the “magical creatures” to “avoid reinforcing stereotypes” about little people.
“To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community. We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period,” a Disney spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.
Additionally, the iconic poison apple scene was also reportedly changed for the live-action film, causing even more controversy.
Meanwhile, Ziegler sparked heated debate on social media when she called the love story in the original Snow White antiquated and unnecessary, which has alienated many fans of the upcoming film.
Disney has yet to reveal what was reshot in response to criticism.
“Snow White” opens exclusively in theaters on March 21, 2025.
