*WNBA star Brittney Griner and her wife, Cherelle, welcomed their son, Bash Griner, in July. Now the couple is giving fans their first look at the baby in new family photos shared on Instagram.
“Family shoots have become a team effort. It’s a series of smiles, tears, feedings, and naps. We love every second and can’t wait to take our first Christmas pictures as a family,” the proud moms told CBS Mornings.
“That’s my man,” Griner previously said about her son on the She Knows Sports podcast. “He is amazing. They say as soon as you see him, everything you thought mattered just goes out the window. And that’s literally what happens.”
Griner told The Today Show that her “world changed” after becoming a parent.
Speaking of being away from her baby during the WNBA season, she said, “It is hard leaving, but at the same time, he’s gonna grow up in a sports family, so he’s gonna understand. What he’s really worried about right now is just sleeping and milk time.”
The couple had initially posted a pregnancy announcement on Instagram in April. Check out the new photos via the IG post above.
In the post’s caption, Griner wrote, “Bash may have the best room in the house. Thank you @strolleria for providing the most comfortable nursing chair and stroller. Relle and I both fall asleep with Bash at night in that chair and wake up without any aches and pains! That’s a plus in my book! @crateandkids proud to partner with you in designing Bash’s room! We love every detail from his amazing book wall collection to his comfortable crib! He sleeps like a big man in his room alone 💤 #strolleriapartner #crateandkidspartner #ilovemystrolleria #ilovemycrateandkids”.
Griner’s joy as a new parent comes after nearly a year of detainment in Russia, where she faced a nine-year sentence for drug smuggling in 2022.
As we reported earlier via CNN, the superstar athlete, who had played in the offseason for a Russian women’s basketball team for years, was arrested at a Moscow airport in February 2022 after authorities found cannabis oil in her luggage.
She later apologized repeatedly and said she had inadvertently packed less than one gram of the substance. Her lawyers said the cannabis oil had been prescribed to Griner for “severe chronic pain.”
