*Former “Love and Hip Hop” reality TV star Apryl Jones criticized women’s efforts in relationships, claiming they often overextend themselves without receiving anything in return. In November, she called out men for their lack of courting skills.
“What is happening with the men in the world,” she said in a livestream last month, MadameNoire reports. “They want to be catered to. They give you bare minimum. They don’t want to spend money. The bill will come to the table and the men don’t grab the bill. Women are grabbing the bill first. The women are grabbing the bill first and we are paying for the bill.”
Jones added, “What is happening with the men? I’m sorry. I think that I’m just am like really actually old school in the sense that – look I do believe as women we are working these days there’s not a lot of at-home mothers. But at the same time my G come with it or go home.”
She continued, “What are we doing? What value are you adding into the life of a woman who is supposed to be catering to the home. Like you want the woman to cater to the house and make sure that she builds a home for you and to make it comfortable and to cook and I believe in that but like at what point, if men aren’t even flying you or courting you. Bruh you want me to cook?”
The Neighborhood Talk reposted the clip, and in the comments, fellow reality star Moniece Slaughter posted a lengthy comment that read: “I remember back in my day. I dated nothing but street 🥷s. If they were messing around I didn’t know. Nobody was coming to me as a woman. They came to the door and knocked. They opened the car door. They put racks in my hand. If he couldn’t get it to me. He sent someone to me. If no one could get to me. He deposited it into my bank account. Unless it was potentially dangerous environment, I was outside with my man.”
Slaughter added, “Nobody played with me. His homeboys didn’t let nobody play wit me. Everybody knew you were their lady. And he wasn’t outside all day with a gaggle of 🥷s. He was ready to come home! And when we were out, NOT ME OR MY HOMEGIRLS REACHED FOR A SINGLE BILL EVER OR WE GOT CUSSED OUT. and as a result when men were speaking i minded my business. I excused myself from the room. I asked necessary questions. I was chill but I wasn’t ever going to be blindsided or offer blind loyalty.”
Her response continued, “I knew what I needed to know. He paid for the groceries. And I cooked all the meals. I washed the laundry. He pumped my gas whenever we were together. Men like that are rare. I have no idea where they have gone. But take me back to 2005-2010! Life was lit!”
