She Pissed! Letitia Wright Hits Back At Publication That Compared Her to Male Abusers | WATCH

*Letitia Wright is displeased and going gaga after an article predicted she stands little chance of winning an award at the 2023 Oscars, thanks to the controversies surrounding her. What infuriated her the most is that a  columnist for The Hollywood Reporter mentioned her alongside Will Smith and Brad Pitt as people with “varying degrees of personal controversy” and who are unlikely to go far during the awards season, reports People.

The story begins: “Fairly or not, three of awards season’s acting contenders might be judged on more than just their performances.” It then reminds its readers that Smith, 53, resigned from the Academy after slapping comedian Chris Rock onstage; hence Smith is somewhat disadvantaged as far as winning is concerned. Pitt, 58, also faces allegations from ex-wife Angelina Jolie that he hit her and their kids on a private plane in 2016. He was drunk at that time. Pitt has denied the allegations.

Wright feels she does not qualify to be numbered amongst these men who have been accused of abuse and sexual misconduct. Scott Feinberg of “The Hollywood Reporter” on Monday opined that Wright, 29, has her “fair share of bad publicity.”

In 2020, Wright retweeted anti-vaccine, insinuating that she’s against Covid-19 vaccines. While the column admitted that Wright’s controversy is not as outrageous as Smith’s and Pitt’s and so she may face the least resistance, it still held that “she may also have the weakest case for a nomination anyway.”

Wright wasted no time in responding to the article. Taking to her Instagram Story, she called it “incredibly disrespectful.”

“How dare you,” she went on. “You mentioned my name alongside men who have been accused of abuse & sexual misconduct. This is vile behaviour. At this point a personal vendetta towards me. I’ve done nothing wrong but respectfully refused to do interviews with this publication. Stop your nonsense.”

On her anti-vaccine views, Wright explained that she apologized two years ago and has since kept silent on the matter, yet the publication (The Hollywood Reporter) “lied and said I continued talking about it with my cast & crew on my set. THIS WAS NOT TRUE. ASK MY PRODUCER AND DIRECTOR. … Your agenda towards me is now even more clear. I won’t remain silent. Stop your disgusting behavior.”

Following Wright’s outbursts, The Hollywood Reporter’s editor-in-chief Nekesa Mumbi Moody issued a statement.

“I sincerely appreciate the feedback and dialogue surrounding this column,” said Nekesa. “While the intent was not to equate Letitia Wright’s situation with others mentioned in the article and we underscored that in the story (which was assigned to Scott), we also understand that some saw this in a different way. We have featured Letitia on our cover and cited her great talent in reviews and look forward to continuing to chronicle her career.”

In October 2021, The Hollywood Reporter quoted a source claiming that Wright spread her negative vaccine views on the set of the “Black Panther” sequel. But Wright refuted the claim.

“I honestly assert that this was completely untrue,” she wrote on Instagram.

Nate Moore, the “Wakanda Forever” producer, recently told Variety in a cover story that the claims by The Hollywood Reporter are untrue.

“She never talked about her views either way,” he said. “We read the stories that I would argue were unfair because I don’t know where they’re coming from. As someone who literally is on set next to the monitor all the time, I feel like I would have heard it.”

Wright has continued to react to The Hollywood Reporter’s article. She again posted on her Instagram, slamming the publication while asking, “putting my name into this nasty article for what?”

“I’m still here, still making an impact, still creating projects that touch peoples [sic] hearts and it’s not going to stop,” she added. “Get a life, like for real.”

In another post, she asked the publication, “Now please proceed to leave me alone.”
