“It’s just like so many things went into why I wanted to do this,” Flynn said. “Kelly Rowland, big thing for me, I wanted to work with her. Marsai, as a producer the things that she’s was very impressive. I wanted to be a part of that, part of her story and her journey. Omari Hardwick, 20-year career in acting, I wanted to work opposite of him. Anton Cropper who I wasn’t privy of, now just thankful that I had the opportunity to work with him because he’s one of the best directors I’ve worked with, honestly.”
As for Roland, the iconic singer and actress loved how positive and funny the story is.
“I loved the script,” Rowland said. “I loved the character Keisha, I fell in love with her. But I loved how honest and how beautiful of a family the audience would be able to see.
She added, “It doesn’t always have to be this different narrative always pushed on black families and this one is just so positive. It’s fun. It’s so much fun and the laughs are hearty laughs.”
