*Season three of the hit BET+ series “First Wives Club” is back!
The series follows the lives of Hazel (Jill Scott), Bri (Michelle Buteau), and Jayla (Michelle Mitchenor) as they deal with the pressures of new jobs, love, and friendships. This season, the ladies’ lives take an unexpected turn as they process their feelings of loss and discover what’s important to them.
EUR spoke exclusively with cast members Mitchenor, Ronreaco Lee (Gary), and Mark Tillman (David) about what fans can expect in the new season.
Mitchenor revealed that Jayla will be balancing a lot, both professionally and with her love life. Including a surprising pop-up from the past. Comedian Affion Crockett joins this season as Jayla’s ex-husband, and Mitchenor told us that the storyline between the two is one of her favorites because of the opportunity to work with a comedian “who is off the chart.” She further explained, “it was super funny, and our chemistry is off the charts. I love working with comedians.”

Lee portrays Gary, the husband of Bri. This season Gary delves into a new career as a writer. Lee said it was a bit of a surprise, but it was exciting to explore as an actor taking on a new space within a character. Lee said he never tackled a character pursuing a new career path, which in some ways parallels his own personal journey with the series.
Lee made his television directorial debut with “First Wives Club,” covering episode six of the series this season. The actor said it was a dream come true and something he has wanted to do for several years.
This season will see Tillman’s character David go through a whole range of emotional circumstances, and he leans on Gary to get through it. Tillman said people should be excited about the growth they will see.
“I think for David especially being a politician and a senator, you’re always at the forefront and feel like you have to be a leader in many circumstances. So it’s nice to see him trust leaning on someone else. And Gary is that person. So it is deep but funny and crazy too, which is what this show stands on.”
