*Season 2 of the BET+ series “THE MS. PAT SHOW” kicked off with a premiere party at the London Hotel in West Hollywood.

The event was a star-studded affair with attendees including star, creator, and EP Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams, castmates J. Bernard Calloway, Tami Roman, Theodore Barnes, Briyana Guadalupe, Vince Swann, and Brittany Inge. Also in the building were Essence Atkins, Lisa Vidal, and Richard Lawson – who all have guest roles on the show’s upcoming second and third seasons, and executive producers Brian Grazer, Jordan E. Cooper, and Devin Griffin, GM, and EVP of BET+.

Series star Ms. Pat shared with EUR that she knows the show is blessed to be launching season two and knowing that season 3 has been picked up. “I’m just blessed and happy. We’re doing something that wasn’t out there. People are eating it like your grandma’s gravy,” said the comedian.

BET+ EVP Devin Griffin discussed the journey of bringing the show to air, “this is a show that had such a long journey to get to where it’s at. And really, I’ve always believed that BET+ was the right home for the show. For a series like this, that started during the height of the pandemic, to become such an unfiltered and real story that expands the ways that black stories get told, and to get an Emmy nomination just feels surreal because we had high hopes for the show. But it’s showing that the sky is the limit.”

Fan reaction has been amazing. So we asked Griffin if there was ever a time he was concerned with putting “The Ms. Pat Show” out or worried that some people wouldn’t understand or get precisely where the show is coming from.

Griffin shared that there were different points of view across the executive team. For example, some questioned if the content was too real. Griffin said he was never concerned and always encouraged creators and storytellers to push into uncomfortable spaces.

Griffin said the audience’s response shows that they appreciate how real it is because it’s not something you get to see on television. But, he added, “I think it’s truly an achievement for BET+ and  TV, in general, to tell new stories with a new point of view that pulls down the layers you normally see.”

Season two of “The Ms. Pat Show” is currently airing on BET+.
