*Nike unveiled the 2.0 version of its Colin Kaepernick Icon Jersey at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 17. By 10:01 a.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 17, the jerseys were all sold out.
Many of them immediately popped up on eBay, selling for way more than the Swoosh’s $150 price tag.
The jersey’s triple-black colorway pays homage to the four years since the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback took a knee to peacefully protest against systemic racism and social injustice during the national anthem. The jersey incorporates the athlete’s former number 7 along with his signature K emblem and a small recreation of his bust on a patch across the hem of the shirt.
In the ad, the jersey appears in front of walls featuring quotes and scribbles of powerful messages circulating around ending systemic racism. One quote in particular sticks out, following Kaepernick’s motto throughout the past four years under the public eye: “True to each other. True to the movement.
True to 7.”

The pace of sales for Icon 2.0 beats that of last year’s original Icon Jersey, which Kaepernick said sold out in approximately 10 hours.
