*In a deal rumored to be worth $30 million, Netflix has acquired the worldwide rights to the Sam Levinson-directed romantic drama “Malcolm & Marie” starring Zendaya and John David Washington.
Netflix describes “Malcolm & Marie” as an “achingly romantic drama in which a filmmaker (Washington) and his girlfriend (Zendaya) return home following a celebratory movie premiere as he awaits what’s sure to be imminent critical and financial success.”
Directed by “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson (on which Zendaya stars), the movie was shot on 35mm in black and white.

We are all thrilled that it has ended up with Netflix which is unparalleled in allowing filmmakers the freedom to tell their stories that reach audiences all over the world.”
In related news, after “Euphoria” was forced to shut down in March due to COVID, Zendaya asked Levinson to work with her on this project.
Last month, Zendaya revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that the show may release a “bridge episode” while the cast and crew prepare to return to shoot the rest of season 2.
“We’re trying to figure out how to eventually be able to create a season 2 that we’re all really proud of and get all the best out of it that we want but also still being very safe,” she said. “So, we might end up doing a little bridge episode. I don’t really know how to describe it, but an episode that we can do with a limited amount of people in a safer environment that can, I don’t know, give people something.”
