*There were barely any fans at the usually sold-out, deafening Arrowhead Stadium due to COVID-19 social distancing, but boos were still heard among the roughly 17,000 of a possible 76,400 who were in attendance as opposing players linked arms during what was billed as a “moment of unity.”

The National Anthem was not played live in Kansas City’s home stadium. A prerecorded version was instead played on the video board as Chiefs defensive end Alex Okafor took a knee and raised his fist in the air, and two Chiefs players put their hands on his shoulders in solidarity.

The Houston Texans remained in their locker room during the anthem, and fans booed them when they took the field at its conclusion. The booing continued as the two teams walked to midfield and shook hands, interlocking their arms at the 50 yard line during what was supposed to be a moment of silence.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Texans QB Deshaun Watson and Texans defensive end JJ Watt were at the center of the line before wishing each other good luck.
