Neve Campbell Joins Original Stars for ‘Scream’ Revival

*Neve Campbell has confirmed that she’s coming back for the “Scream” revival.

We previously reported… “Scream 5” is in the works at Spyglass, and David Arquette has confirmed his return, reprising the role of Deputy Dewey Riley in the previous four installments of the horror movie series.

“I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new,” Arquette told Collider. “Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.”

Craven directed all four previous films but the fifth “Scream” will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence for Spyglass Media Group.

Kevin Williamson, the screenwriter of the original films, has reportedly returned for the relaunch and is executive producing.

Plot details are on the low for now.

Hello again, Sidney… #ImBack @ScreamMovies

“Hello again, Sidney… #ImBack,” Campbell wrote next to a video which features a potential release date for the film — January 14, 2022.

She also joins fellow original star Courteney Cox

During a recent interview, Campbell was asked about Wes Craven not being involved with the reboot. Here’s what she had to say:

I definitely had a period where I was thinking it would just be too odd to do a movie without Wes, and I wasn’t certain that I would want to do that. But, I think enough time has passed. I got this really, really respectful letter from the directors [Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett] of the new one.”

They came to me with Scream 5, and these directors are incredibly talented. They wrote a letter honoring Wes in such a beautiful way, and they expressed that the reason they make horror movies is because of Wes and the Scream films. They also expressed how blown away they are at the idea of actually getting an opportunity to make one of them and how much they want to honor and respect Wes’ vision. It was just beautiful, and I was really grateful.”

Spyglass is reportedly aiming to begin production later this year in Wilmington, North Carolina.
