*A former Arkansas sheriff who heeded calls to resign after his racist n-word filled rant was secretly recorded will reportedly continue to receive a paycheck in an act of “compassion” by a court.
Ex-Arkansas County Sheriff Todd Wright reportedly began racist-ranting after seeing his girlfriend speak to a Black man at a grocery store. “Why you got to holler at f**king n**gers when I’m around?” he asked her at one point on the 24-second recording. He also called the woman a “n*gger lover.” Audio of the conversation was leaked onto social media.

After the audio was leaked, a court encouraged Wright to resign, but unanimously passed a motion that allows him to continue to be paid on contract labor through September 30, according to local news outlet the Stuttgart Daily Leader.
