Method Man On Becoming More Refined with Age & New Role on ‘Power II: Ghost’ / EUR Exclusive-WATCH

*25 years ago Method Man and Mary J. Blige dropped the classic hit, “All I Need,” giving hip-hop fans everywhere, their own love anthem. The two are teaming back up, but this time for your TV screens in the new STARZ drama, “Power Book II: Ghost.”

‘Ghost’ picks up the action a few days after the events of the original series finale. Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) is dealing with the aftermath of murdering his father, and his mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) being arrested for the crime and taking the wrap.

The will states that Tariq must go to school, maintain a 3.5 GPA and graduate in order to access his inheritance money. The problem is that he needs money now for Tasha’s defense. He meets Davis Maclean (Cliff ‘Method Man’ Smith,) a brilliant, spotlight-loving ethically challenged lawyer and tricks him into representing Tasha. A good defense isn’t cheap, so Tariq turns to old ways to make money. Tariq encounters Monet Stewart-Tejada (Mary J. Blige) through his college roommate – she’s a major player in the drug world, but isn’t sure if getting involved with Tariq is the right move.

EURweb correspondent Jill Munroe talked with Method Man about joining the ‘Power universe,’ taking on a different type of role than what we have seen of him in the past and those intense “Power” fans.

On Davis Maclean being a different type of role than we’re used to seeing him in:

For me it was a natural progression, because as I’ve gotten older I’ve become more refined – I’d like to think… a little bit more well spoken, I’d like to think, and the fact that I did the work to get to the point where I am now. Time comes for everyone perfectly.

In addition to the above mentioned, the cast also features some of fans favorites from the original ‘Power’ and enough new comers to keep the action flowing. Shane Johnson (Power, Behind Enemy Lines) as Cooper Saxe, Gianni Paolo (Ma, The Fosters) as Brayden Weston, Quincy Tyler Bernstine (Ray Donovan, Modern Love) as Tameika Washington, Daniel Bellomy (The Real MVP: The Wanda Durrant Story) as Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Cross and Paige Hurd (The Oval, Hawaii Five-O) as Lauren Baldwin appear.
