*Patricia Cameron, executive director of the nonprofit organization Blackpackers, is setting out to hike all 485 miles of The Colorado Trail to encourage people of color to experience the great-outdoors.
The mission of Blackpackers is to show African-Americans and other minorities the beauty of Mother Nature. Cameron founded the organization after noticing the lack of African-Americans out on the trail. Blackpackers helps minorities by not only introducing them to the outdoors, but also subsidizing the cost of gear.
