‘Clueless’ Reboot About Cher’s Bestie Dionne Lands at Peacock

*A reboot of the 1995 movie “Clueless” is coming to NBC’s new Peacock streaming service.

It was previously reported that CBS TV Studios had ordered a reimagining of the popular feature film, now a cult classic. The story centers on Cher Horowitz, a high school student who befriends a new student named Tai Frasier and decides to give her a makeover.

The TV series takes place in modern day L.A. and follows Cher’s best friend Dionne, originally played by Stacey Dash, and her adjustment to being high school’s new ‘It Girl’ while simultaneously trying to solve her BFF’s strange disappearance, per marieclaire.co.uk.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is described as “a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong No. 2 Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans. How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?”

The original film grossed $56.1 million in the United States. It was followed by a spin-off television sitcom and a series of books. The three-series show ran from 1996 to 1999.

“To be a part of such an iconic film is a blessing. I feel blessed. I really do,” Dash said of “Clueless” to Elle magazine back in 2014.

“The whole thing was a dream project for me. I mean the words on the page, [director] Amy Heckerling, Alicia Silverstone, Donald Faison, Brittany Murphy—we all had so much fun together. I have nothing bad to say about that whole experience. What you see on-screen is exactly what happened every day on set.,” she added of her filming experience.
