Bill Maher delivers a mock eulogy for President Donald Trump on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher”

*Somebody must’ve gotten his feelings hurt last Friday.

Right after Donald Trump patronized women and pushed housing discrimination in his “suburban housewives” tweet Wednesday morning (we’ll get to that in a sec), he randomly railed against HBO’s Bill Maher, tweeting, “Watched @billmaher last week for the first time in a long time. He’s totally SHOT, looks terrible, exhausted, gaunt, and weak. If there was ever a good reason for no shutdown, check out this jerk. He never had much going for him, but whatever he did have is missing in action!”

The “Real Time with Bill Maher” episode that Trump happened to catch after not watching “in a long time” (insert eyeroll) ended with Maher delivering a mock eulogy for #45 that laid out how he might be remembered. Maher set up the bit by pointing out how recent funerals for Congressmen John Lewis and Elijah Cummings, Sen. John McCain and others had such beautiful eulogies, and how he couldn’t imagine the same for Trump.

Maher said in the fake eulogy, “So many wanted to speak here today, but couldn’t break their non-disclosure agreements. And our hearts go out to Melania who RSVP’d ‘maybe.’ Donald always said he knew she was the one the moment he saw her and said those three little words: ‘add to cart.’”

He continued, “Donald Trump never met a man he liked. And yet he always suffered fools. You could tell him anything and he’d believed it. It’s painful to think he could still be with us if only his personal physician wasn’t that lady who believed medicine came from outer space.”

Apparently, the bit got under the president’s skin, because it’s been five days since it aired. Watch below:

Trump’s tweet storm this morning included a revisit to his so-called “suburban housewives,” this time pulling Sen. Cory Booker into the tweet’s blatant racism and sexism, and spelling the senator’s name wrong in the process. Trump tweeted, “The ‘suburban housewife’ will be voting for me. They want safety & are thrilled that I ended the long running program where low income housing would invade their neighborhood. Biden would reinstall it, in a bigger form, with Corey Booker in charge!”

In one tweet, the President of the United States managed to disparage and belittle women by declaring who they’ll vote for, and blow a dog-whistle to “suburban housewives” (the dwindling white female voting block that he needs for any chance of winning reelection). The coded message is that he has saved them from “low income housing” (black people moving into their neighborhoods) and “Corey Booker” (a Black U.S. legislator who is not Tim Scott) will be in charge of their return should former Vice President Joe Biden win the presidency.

Sad.
