*Body cam video showing the 2018 arrest of an 8-year-old boy with special needs went viral Monday (Aug. 10) after it was shared by attorney Ben Crump.

The high-profile civil rights attorney took to Twitter late Sunday calling attention to the boy’s arrest for felony battery at a school in Key West, Fla. Video of the December 2018 incident shows officers patting the boy down and telling him he’s going to jail. He’s asked to put his hands behind his back and an officer tries to handcuff him. Eventually, another officer mentions how his hands are too small for the cuffs before the boy is led out to a squad car.

Watch below:

Crump said the boy, who has special needs, had an Individualized Education Program in place at the school. NBC News reported that the boy had allegedly punched a lunch supervisor in the chest, prompting a substitute teacher – who Crump said “had no awareness or concern about his needs and who escalated the situation by using her hands to forcibly move him – to call the police.

Crump will hold a press conference Tuesday announcing his intention to file a civil lawsuit against the officers involved in the incident, along with school officials, the city of Key West and the Monroe County School District.
