*D.L. Hughley is not convinced Kanye West is consumed by his mental illness.
The comedian shared his thoughts about Ye’s mental state during Sunday’s conversation with Chanel Omari on Fanroom Live. As reported by Complex, Hughley noted that while Ye may be suffering from some form of mental instability, he also believes the rapper is using it as an excuse to act out publicly in order to stir up conversation.
“There is no doubt that he suffers from some level of mental illness, but it isn’t why he’s misogynistic, it isn’t why he’s disrespectful to our history,” Hughley said around the s nine-minute mark of the clip above. “You don’t have to be mentally ill to put an asterisk on slavery and he consistently does it whether it’s Harriet Tubman, when he denigrated her, whether he’s talking about slaves—he’s not so mentally ill that he’ll talk about any other people. He talks about people he can get away with.”

West has been vocal about his bipolar disorder, and after his most bizarre behavior upon announcing his run for presidency, he took to social media to claim his wife Kim Kardashian was trying to have him placed on lockdown at a mental institution.
Word on the street is that Kim and her mother Kris Jenner believe electroshock treatment is exactly what West needs to make him “controllable”.
“He’s not so ill that he’s trying to be a disruptor in the political forum,” Hughley said. “He took $5 million in the PPP payments. So he seems to be conveniently ill when it serves his purposes. And, to me, Kanye West is exactly like Donald Trump so it would make sense they are attracted to one another.”
Meanwhile, Kanye last week pretty much confirmed that his political campaign is a “joke” aimed to hurt Biden’s chances for winning the election.
When asked by Forbes on Thursday if he was running a spoiler campaign with the help of Trump’s Republican operatives, ‘Ye refused to directly answer the question stating instead that he was “walking . . . to win.”
