Trump Denies Involvement with GOP Election Pros Helping Kanye’s Election Campaign

Donald J. Trump, Kanye

*President Trump denies having any knowledge of Republican operatives aiding Kanye West’s attempts to gain ballot access in battleground states like Wisconsin, Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois.

Prominent Republican lawyer Lane Ruhland is said to be one of the individuals helping West get on the ballot in Wisconsin, PEOPLE reports. She was seen by a local reporter dropping off ballot signatures for the rapper on Tuesday. Ruhland, who specializes in election law, represented the Republican National Committee in 2016.

“Just a Republican operative trying to get Kanye West on the ballot,” tweeted Ben Rhodes, former deputy national security adviser under President Barack Obama. “What a disgusting dirty trick that shows no respect for voters or whatever Kanye is going through.”

News of Ye’s campaign receiving aid from multiple GOP election pros is fueling theories that he’s orchestrating an elaborate PR stunt aimed to help re-elect Trump by pulling votes from Joe Biden

West has already filed paperwork to appear on the November ballot in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin, according to the report.

“There’s no conflict to waive, but we have no knowledge of anything Kanye West is doing or who is doing it for him,” Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said in a statement.

When asked about Republicans working with West, Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday that he had no knowledge of it.

“No not at all, no not at all. Other than I get along with him very well. I like him, I like his wife,” he said.

At least four people with connections to the GOP are reportedly involved in West’s presidential bid.

The hip-hop star previously expressed support for Trump, but last month he was singing a different tune after announcing he’s running for president.

“It looks like one big mess to me,” West said in an interview with Forbes. “I don’t like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker.”
