*A Black man trying to buy gas for his lawn mower at Jay’s Garage in Portland was denied by a white employee over concerns that he would use the gas to start fires during current protests in the city over systemic racism.
Dom DeWeese said the employee asked him if he was a “Black Lives Matter rioter” and refused to sell him gasoline, claiming that protesters were setting “dumpster fires” in the area.

When DeWeese’s video of the encounter went viral, the establishment fired the employee immediately and apologized to him in the following Facebook post.
