Toddler Found Wandering Florida Neighborhood, Cops Searching for Parents [VIDEO]

*Police in Miramar, Florida are searching for the parents or guardians of a curly haired mixed-race toddler who was found wandering an apartment complex on Sunday.

Wearing only a soiled diaper and a T-shirt, the child was reportedly found near the 1860 block of SW 68th Avenue.

When a local resident found him she took the boy to her neighbor, Lori Rodriguez, believing he was her child.

“Being that I have blonde hair and the baby has blonde hair, she ended up at my door which was open because I was doing laundry,” Rodriguez told Miami ABC affiliate WPLG Local 10.

Rodriguez changed his diaper before accompanying her neighbor to search the area for the the boy’s parents.

“We walked around and looked to see if anyone was nearby. None of us have ever seen the baby before,” she said.

The toddler reportedly did not know his name, or age. He has been placed in the care of a foster parent.

On Monday evening, Miramar police confirmed that they were looking into a tip that the boy is the son of Atlanta resident Leila Cavett.

“Please help me find my sister my heart is breaking,” Gina Lewis, who says she is Cavett’s sister, said in a Facebook post Monday afternoon, per MSN.com.

“I cannot breathe,” she added.

The MSN article states, “Cavett was last seen driving a mid-to-late 90s white Chevy 3500, with a red tailgate and a “Baby on Board” sign on the passenger window, according to police.”

“We are aware of the social media posts advising Leila Cavett is this child’s mother,” Tania Rues, a Miramar police spokeswoman, said in an email. “We have several detectives looking into this further. At present time, we cannot conclusively state the little boy’s identity. We have received numerous tips and are investigating each one of them.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the boy or his parents/guardians identity to contact the Miramar Police Department at (954) 602-4000.
