*Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have denied contributing to a new book about their life in the Royal Family.

The book, “Finding Freedom,” was written by royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, and it features testimony from numerous palace insiders about what led to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure as senior members of the British royal family.

According to an excerpt, Harry and Meghan were left feeling some way during Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas speech last year, and there were no photos of the couple.

The authors said “For Harry and Meghan, it had been yet another sign that they needed to consider their own path.”

The book claims they felt they had “long been sidelined by the institution” and were “not a fundamental part of its future.”

“Finding Freedom” also details Markle’s “awkward moments” with Kate Middleton, Prince William’s wife.

“Though it was not necessarily her responsibility, Kate did little to bridge the divide,” wrote Scobie and Durand.

The authors note that both women “struggled to move past distant politeness.”

“There were just a handful of people working at the palace they could trust,” the authors write.

“A friend of the couple’s referred to the old guard as ‘the vipers’.

“Meanwhile, a frustrated palace staffer described the Sussexes’ team as ‘the squeaky third wheel’ of the palace.”

Harry and Meghan are now based in Los Angeles, California, after stepping back as senior royals earlier this year.

Here’s more from the book’s description:

“For the very first time, ‘Finding Freedom’ goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumors and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond,” read the book’s description. “As members of the select group of reporters that cover the British Royal Family and their engagements, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have witnessed the young couple’s lives as few outsiders can.”

“With unique access and written with the participation of those closest to the couple, ‘Finding Freedom’ is an honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicate to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world,” the description added.

Meanwhile, a rep for the couple said in a statement: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom. This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.”
