*Kanye West’s mental health issues are said to be linked to his unresolved grief over his mother’s death in 2007.

Donda died at age 58 of a heart attack, a day after multiple elective plastic surgeries paid for her by her famous son.

July 12 would have been her 71st birthday.

“He has not recovered from the loss of his mother,” said Ulysses Blakely, who dated the rapper’s mom for years, Page Six reports. “They had such a close bond.”

In an interview with Q Magazine in 2015, Kanye said, “If I had never moved to LA she’d be alive . . . I don’t want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.”

At the time of Donda’s death, she was her son’s manager and oversaw his holding company and charitable Kanye West Foundation.

“She was protective . . . she was a very forceful person who sought to fortify him for the real world,” Blakely explained. “She knew that he was clearly not ordinary and wanted him to take special care and not be injured by our Western way of life.”

Blakely recalled witnessing Kanye’s creative genius at a young age.

“Before Kanye even went to kindergarten, I taught him mechanical drawing and all about shading,” Blakely said. “Literally within a week or two, he’s drawing comic book figures, Superman-style heros, with accurate musculature. He was doing it all on his own — no one showed him that.”

Michelynn Woodard, who helped launch the Kanye West Foundation in 2005, told The Post that Donda was “very direct and very passionate about her son.”

West revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder with the release of his 2018 album “Ye.”

On Wednesday, Ye’s wife Kim Kardashian wrote on Instagram that his bipolar disorder is “incredibly complicated and painful.”

Meanwhile, Kanye has been holed up at his ranch in Cody, Wyoming, reportedly finishing his 10th studio album titled, “Donda.”

He is refusing to see Kim and her family, who are trying to have him committed to a mental hospital.

Meanwhile, Damon Dash, one of several celebrities to visit the ranch and check in on Kanye, said the hip-hop star is misunderstood.

“If I FaceTimed you right now you wouldn’t say he’s crazy you would just say he’s crazy rich. He’s having crazy fun and he’s doing some crazy s–t like dropping crazy money anytime somebody need it,” Dash told The Post. “He got his friends around him . . . Sometimes I think he just does that s–t to make sure y’all still care . . . The world would be boring without Kanye.”
