*Recently, we had the opportunity to catch up with Michael Epps to see what he’s got goin’ on. The Chicago native shared his thought’s on the new season of “The Chi,” where he plays Jake.
Epps was proud to have worked with the cast for another season. He says fans of the show can expect the “grown-up” Jake.
Chelsea Rhym/EURweb: The Chi’s show does a great job depicting social injustices within the black community. What’s it like reenacting those particular scenes as Jake?
Michael Epps: It feels more normal now. Prior to this, I’ve never been a part of something like this show. It’s really special to be a part of.
CH/EUR: What can we expect from Jake in season 3?
ME: You can expect to see Jake wake up in season 3. He starts to see that there’s more to life than what his brother has been teaching him and that he can actually be something in life. He sees that he might have a bright future ahead of him.
Michael Epp’s also has an ear and pen game for music. Currently, he has a single out called, “Drip” under the moniker of Mikey.
CH/EUR: What/Who inspired the Mikey moniker? And, have you always had a passion for music?
ME: I picked the moniker Mikey because that’s my name! That’s what people call me, that’s who I am. I’ve always had a passion for music. I love music, so for me to make my own, it’s a really good feeling.
CH/EUR: What was the inspiration behind your single Drip, and where can your followers find the single?
ME: My inspiration was me talking about the things I have, the things I want to have or things I want to do when I get older, and stuff like that. It’s basically me reminiscing. You can find it on all streaming platforms! YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, everything!
CH/EUR: What is next for Michael?
ME: My mom and I are working on some clothing right now. You can expect to see me in more movies, more TV shows, and you can most definitely expect more music.
