Joe Biden Tells Joy Reid (on Her Debut Show) 4 Black Women on His VP List / WATCH

*On the inaugural episode of MSNBC’s The ReidOut,” presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden joined host Joy Reid for a special one-on-one interview to kick off the debut of the show to discuss the impact of COVID-19, Trump’s rhetoric and his selection for a potential vice presidential candidate.

On Trump’s response to the pandemic:

“No country has done what we have done, walk away. There’s no leadership here. He actually has zero, zero. He surrendered.”

Asked about foreign interference in our democracy:

“We have a whole group of lawyers who are going out to every polling — every voter registration physician in the states — the secretaries of state, making sure that they, in fact, have a game plan as to how they’re going to allow the voting to take place. We are continuing to push what Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in the House did. They passed the money to allow for voting in place, to have not only voting by mail, but also voting in place by providing the necessary equipment for social distancing, sanitation. I can’t do anything about what is going on in Russia, except respond. And Putin knows I mean what I say. This is a violation of our sovereignty. And if, in fact, it occurs, there will be response in kind. It will not go unstated, unnoticed or unreported.”

On selecting a Black woman as a potential running mate:

“I am not committed to naming any but the people I have named, and among them, there are four Black women. So, that decision is underway right now. And, by the way, Black women have supported me my entire career. You all act like all of a sudden, there was an epiphany in South Carolina. I have had over a 96 percent — 94 percent rating in the state with the eighth-largest Black community in the United States of America, Delaware. And so they’re the ones, as that old saying goes, that brought me to the dance. I have been loyal. They have been loyal to me. And so it is important that my administration, I promise you, will look like America, both as — from vice president, to Supreme Court, to Cabinet positions, to every major position in the White House. It’s going to look like America. It’s critically important that be the case. I can guarantee you that.”
