*MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and the family of Calvin Horton, a man who was killed by a business owner while protesting in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd, will hold a news conference on Tuesday, July 21 at 12:30 p.m. CT in Minneapolis on what would have been Calvin’s 44th birthday.
The family and attorney Crump will be joined by the activist community demanding that the district attorney arrest and file charges against the business owner, 59-year-old John Rieple.
Even though the family and activists have video from social media showing that the shooter was safely in his store while shooting out into the crowd, they are demanding that the Minnesota Police Department release any and all surveillance video.
A vigil and rally will be held later in the day from 6 – 8 p.m. CT. Additionally, a GoFundMe has been established to help support Calvin’s seven children.
