*As bystanders were filming the Black Lives Matter mural in front of Trump Tower in Manhattan on Monday, a man in a black baseball cap brazenly approached the site, took a can of red paint out of a brown paper bag and splattered its contents all over the “V” in the mural.
He then scurried off as the woman filming said disappointingly, “Come on,” and warned that she had him on video.
The mural was painted in front of Trump Tower last week to send a very clear message to 45.
Mayor Bill de Blasio addressed the incident on Twitter. “To whoever vandalized our mural on 5th Avenue: nice try. @NYC_DOT has already fixed it,” the mayor wrote in part. Crews restored the mural Monday.
