*Michael Lofthouse, CEO of the San Francisco-based tech company Solid8, was captured on camera hurling racist comments to an Asian family at a restaurant in Carmel, California,
After the savvy sleuths of Twitter used the footage to identify him and put him on blast, Lofthouse issued an apology on Tuesday, claiming he “lost control and made incredibly hurtful and divisive comments.”
In an Instagram post, Jordan Chan, the woman who recorded the video, said her family was celebrating a birthday when Lofthouse began harassing them.
The video shows him telling the family that “Trump’s gonna f**k you. You f*****g need to leave. You f*****g Asian piece of s**t.”
The commotion caught the attention of a waitress who was quick to get Lofthouse right together.
“You need to leave right now, get out, you are not allowed here, get out now, you do not talk to our guests like that,” Gennica Cochran yells at him. “They are valued guests, you are not allowed here ever again!”
She then escorted him off the property.

In a statement to a local ABC affiliate, Lofthouse apologized: “My behavior in the video is appalling. This was clearly a moment where I lost control and made incredibly hurtful and divisive comments. I would like to deeply apologize to the Chan family. I can only imagine the stress and pain they feel. I was taught to respect people of all races, and I will take the time to reflect on my actions and work to better understand the inequality that so many of those around me face every day.”
Now that he’s internet famous for being a racist prick, Lofthouse has reportedly deleted his Linkedin and Facebook accounts, and his Twitter profile says he was suspended.
“I think it’s the standard issued apology that you get from racists,” Cochran told KGO-TV of Lofthouse’s apology. “People who believe those things and they get called out for them. I don’t believe a word of it.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to benefit Cochran.
In her Instagram post, Chan slammed Trump for giving “racists a platform and amplifies voices of hate.”
“White supremacy has a notorious habit of masquerading as patriotism,” Chan wrote.
“The surfacing of racists is so prevalent right now, even in such an ethnically/culturally diverse and liberal state like California, because Trump HIMSELF uses his position to incite racial tension and to promote aggression towards [people of color], foreigners, and immigrants,” she added.
